Fahrenheit and Celsius use a scale plus offset (common for temperature) — a simple multiply is not enough.
Use °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9. Room temperature around 77°F is 25°C. Freezing is 32°F (0°C) and boiling is 212°F (100°C) at standard pressure.
